But That's Another Story is taking the first Monday of July off because we are in the Toronto Fringe Festival!

The Fringe is online this year and you can watch But That's Another Story - Festival Favourites anytime you want, wherever you are between the dates of July 21st to 31st!

Join us this month with our all-star lineup of: Chris Gibbs, Tracey Erin Smith, Shayna Jones, and Colin Mochrie.  Hosted as always by yours truly, Christel Bartelse and Briane Nasimok.

But That's Another Story is an online, monthly storytelling event to bring people together during these challenging times.

Canadian Comedy Award recipient Briane Nasimok and 99-Second Story Slam Grand Champion Christel Bartelse have joined forces to showcase a wide array of Toronto's finest raconteurs!

Each evening will include a variety of styles (fables, indigenous tales, contemporary works, autobiographical observations, comic essays) from some of Toronto's most compelling tellers.  "But That's Another Story" is presented on the first Sunday of every month.

She loves to talk and she loves telling and sharing stories, and she always loves listening to a well told tale. She is able to share her Jamaican Caribbean & African culture with men, women and children alike.

She has told her tales on radio and television, spoken at hundreds of schools to thousands of children from the Caribbean to south Africa-, at libraries, festivals, boardrooms special events prisons and more.


Joanne has worked in the live Canadian arts scene for over 15 years, across many genres, including stand-up and storytelling from Vancouver to Toronto. She has written and performed in three solo shows and her third, She Grew Funny, premiered to sold-out audiences at the 2017 Toronto Fringe Festival, where it was the Factory Theatre Studio Patron’s Pick and one of Now Magazine’s Outstanding New Plays. She currently hosts the storytelling podcast, "Happy Funny Amazing" available across most podcasting platforms.


Best known for his activities in co-founding and promoting the Just For Laughs comedy festival; under Nulman's stewardship, the festival grew from a two-day show to a month-long event drawing international audiences. He wrote, produced and hosted the 1997 CBC production of "The Worst of Just For Laughs", created the Gemini-award nominated gay sketch comedy show In Thru the Out Door for CBC and Showtime in 1998,[2] and won a "Best Variety Series" Gemini Award for "The Best of Just For Laughs" in 1993.


Tracey Starin is a writer and storyteller from Queens, NY. She has appeared on shows such as RISK!, The Story Collider, and Soul Stories Live. Tracey is also the producer and host of ZDead Rock Stars and Riding the Rail storytelling shows, both at QED Astoria. 


Will Weigler is an award-winning theatre director, playwright, and producer. based in Victoria,.  Since he was boy, Will has been telling stories and jokes every chance he gets.


As an adult, he has dedicated his professional life to work out exactly what it is that makes a play or a song, a story or a joke, absolutely unforgettable for an audience. A few of Will’s books on theatre are:The Alchemy of Astonishment;

Strategies for Playbuilding; Laughing Allowed; From the Heart; and Web of Performance.




Christel Bartelse is an actor, writer, producer, clown, teacher and comedian, known for her five solo shows which have toured across Canada, the US and twice to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.  She is the creator of the Podcast all KIDding and cohost/coproducer of Chris and Christel’s Collection at the Peacock Pub. Briane Nasimok is a Gemini-nominated writer, comedian, producer and the creator/performer of Fringe favourite, “Confessions of an Operatic Mute”. A current member of the Storytelling Toronto Board, his television credits range from YTV’s “Uh Oh” to MTV’s “Test Pattern”.  Briane had a previous career as a Canadian film star, which is why most people don’t know him.   He also has a website – brianenasimok.com.
